The warrior state of mind

The warrior mind is one that is absolutely still and concentrated, like untouched water. It is immersed in its surroundings, alert and aware of everything transpiring in its immediate environment. Yet, it is not transfixed on any of it.

For, if it gets absorbed in the minor details it can very well have the head, in which it resides so comfortably, sliced off in an instant. It does not concentrate because concentration is exclusive. Concentration requires effort. It is simply aware because awareness is all-inclusive and effortless. It receives it all but does not label. The warrior mind is a witness to all that is.

The first step for any fighter of life or otherwise is to be selfish. It is to care about and value your life over and above all else because in the absence of that you will have no reason to focus with the required intensity

While you have to be selfish when you start, it should only be necessary as you continue till it is not. Eventually, you cannot be hung up about your own life for two primary reasons. One, that will allow fear to infect your blood and bones paralyzing your very being. Two, a true warrior is never selfish, she lives not for herself. A true warrior lives and fights for others and for that which is beyond herself.

Intelligence is not solely of the mind; intelligence extends to the body. We often confuse intellect with intelligence but to do that would be to confuse music for melody. The two are an integral but small part of a greater whole. The ability to master the body also falls within the domain of intelligence. The true genius, however, is when you gain mastery over the mind and the body.

The true genius is to understand that to completely conquer one you must conquer the other. There is no domination of the body without superiority over the mind. This is only possible when you realize that there is no body without the mind and no mind without the body. There is no body AND mind, there is only mind-body. They are not two entities working together as a cohesive whole, they are the whole. A true warrior understands this and in doing so understands themselves. A true warrior conquers the mind-body and in doing so conquers all of himself.

Only desire is to transcend myself so that I can allow the universe to flow through me; so that I can ‘human’ in much the same way an apple tree ‘apples’
